Clarkson's Farm season 2 – Everything you need to know (2022)

We'll be honest, before Clarkson's Farm appeared on our screens, we thought Jeremy Clarkson trading cars for cattle was a disaster waiting to happen.

But lo and behold, when it dropped onto Amazon's Prime Video in June 2021, the show proved to be a sweet and hilarious insight into rural farm life, filled with characters so charming they gave Jezza a run for his money.

It seems that even The Grand Tour presenter himself was surprised with how much he loved this new way of life... even if it was exceedingly difficult.

The show does exactly what it says on the tin, documenting Clarkson's journey as the proud owner of a 1,000-acre Cotswolds farm. But, given his total lack of agricultural knowledge and experience, he's entirely at the mercy of his team. While they are willing to show him the ropes, they will not hesitate to knock him down a peg or two as well when things go wrong.

And things go wrong A LOT.

With season two officially on the way, fans are patiently waiting to see what shenanigans the team gets up to next.

Here's everything you need to know.

Clarkson's Farm season 2 potential release date: When is the show back?

Clarkson's Farm was confirmed for season two in July 2021, with filming commencing shortly afterwards.

On the announcement, Dan Grabiner, Amazon Studios’ head of UK Originals, said: "Clarkson's Farm is Jeremy's unfiltered love letter to farming. It is that authenticity, charm and humour, combined with the farm’s fantastic characters, which have made the series such a remarkable hit with audiences."

Jeremy and right-hand man Kaleb Cooper then made a video together to confirm the announcement on their side as well.

Filming commenced for a year-long period, wrapping in July 2022. This was confirmed by Clarkson himself, who noted the production time when showing off on Instagram the brand new ponds he dug himself.

When one eager fan commented, "Any news on season two?" Jeremy responded: "Filming ends in mid July. So it should be edited and ready to go early in the new year."

With this in mind, expect a release date in 2023 – with any luck closer to the first half of the year depending on how long it takes to do post-production.

We'll let you know when we hear something definitive.

Clarkson's Farm season 2 plot: What's going to happen?

It seems there's never a quiet day on a farm, particularly one run by Jeremy Clarkson.

Before the show launched, Jeremy explained: "I've had the farm since 2008, but I haven't really been involved with it at all. A man in the village ran it, and then he retired, and I don't know what it was, but I just thought, I can do that.

"I genuinely thought you put seeds in the ground, weather happens and then food grows. So I thought, 'That's not difficult,' but it's phenomenally difficult and the heartache is extraordinary, plus it's phenomenally badly paid. So I thought, if I get someone to film me doing it, that will offset some of the losses."

Well... he's learned the hard way there's more to running a farm than planting seeds.

During the first season, which was initially planned to film for over a year, production and farming were both thrown into chaos as a result of the coronavirus crisis.

The effects of the lockdown had a devastating effect on agriculture development and the farm's ability to make a profit – which was an unexpected twist all caught on camera as Jeremy got very honest about the farm's financial turnover.

Weather also had a major factor, with heavy periods of drought making it impossible to turn up the ground and heavy rain making the mud too wet and waterlogged to do anything with.

But despite the hardship, the group were able to make it work.

Season two is also going to see more drama, with Grabiner teasing what's to come at the Edinburgh TV Festival in August 2022.

"We’re just going into the edit now and it’s looking very good. More Kaleb Cooper, more Gerald. You can understand a little bit more of Gerald this time. I think maybe every season, you’ll understand a few more words of Gerald."

"It’s going very, very well. And also it’s just great to see someone like Kaleb, he had never been on television before," he added. "He’s an authentic – he was the tractor driver who happened to work nearby the farm. And I think it just shows you that new talent, particularly that sort of expert, authentic talent can just explode with the right vehicle and the right approach to the show. So I think observing his rise has been really an exciting part of that show."

Between 2021 and 2022, things didn't get any easier, and it's expected we'll see them dealing with unpredictable weather patterns once again, with heatwaves, storms, and even snow hitting the UK throughout 2021 and 2022.

Of the more than 4,500 people who reviewed the show on Amazon, 98% awarded season one five stars, so it was almost a certainty that season two was on the cards.

At one point it was rumoured the show had been cancelled, but a few awards later, it's clear viewers have fallen for the new, rural Clarkson – as well as his band of farming brothers.

It seems there may some expansion in the business too – with Jeremy revealing he "accidentally bought a pub" after buying a brewery...

Clarkson's Farm season 2: Who will be in the cast?

Confirmed! The Diddly Squat Farm crew are back for more rural hijinks alongside Clarkson.

Obviously, Jeremy Clarkson will be back centre stage in the series. It is Clarkson's Farm after all. Would be kind of weird without him.

However, arguably the biggest star of the show was farmhand and de facto right-hand man, Kaleb Cooper. The youngster's quest for a perm, hatred of driving in London, and confidence in yelling at the famed telly presenter won over the nation.

Often the one who knows what he's doing when it comes to life on Diddly Squat, Kaleb is no fan of city life and is more than comfy living in his own country world, which makes for great back-and-forth banter with the clueless and city-loving Jeremy.

"I'm the boss really," the young farmer declared on This Morning after the success of the show."Don't get me wrong – he is my boss, he's a boss and a friend. He doesn't listen to me but the good thing is he has an interest in farming which makes it a lot easier. That's why I shout at him and I get genuinely angry when he makes a mistake."

It'll be interesting to see how Clarkson's farmer assistant has been fairing over the break between seasons one and two. If Clarkson's comments are anything to go by then, things may well have been pretty tricky on the farm.

(Video) Clarkson's Farm Season 2 Release Date Updates And More

In an interview with The Sun, the Who Wants to be a Millionaire presenter expressed worries over young farmers like Kaleb being forced off the land thanks to the government's neglect of the farming industry which he likens to 'ethnic cleansing'.

"Kaleb's fantastic but it worries me how he'll ever be able to afford his own farm," said Clarkson adding: "He's up against hedge-fund managers now who don't necessarily want to farm it."

Clarkson is urging the government to commit to Britain remaining at least 60% self-sufficient in the food market. He is also calling for consumers to buy British products insisting that the homegrown produce is greener and better quality.

"When you pick up a bit of meat in a supermarket and it's got a little red tractor on it, it was produced in Britain. Buy it because some poor sod in the Peak District has been out rearing in the cold at 3am."

While locally-produced goods are sometimes dearer, he encourages shoppers not to be deterred.

"I urge [readers] who see the difference between cost and value to think, 'All right, it's 5p more to buy this meat with a red tractor on it, but I'm getting better food and helping British farming'."

The pair will be joined by Jeremy's long-time girlfriend, Lisa Hogan, who is often seen in charge of the Diddly Squat Farm Shop.

Land agent "Cheerful" Charlie Ireland will also be around to keep Jeremy and the team in line.

It seems Clarkson's oversized tractor will also be making a return. How do we know this? Well because first-look-images have landed to wet viewers' appetite of course.

And the tractor has a new mate... in the shape of a helicopter. We don't know the context just yet, but we know Kaleb is going to be involved somehow.

Clarkson's Farm season 2: Is there a trailer?

This content is imported from Instagram. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site.

There's currently no official trailer for Clarkson's Farm season two, but there are plenty of ways to catch up with the latest developments of Diddly Squat.

Jeremy often posts updates on his social media, with the farm now having its own Instagram account as well.

In May 2022, Kaleb got some new machinery for the farm, which we can all agree is the kind of wholesome content we want from this series.

They've also been brewing their own beer, and the family have adopted two puppies, Arya and Sansa.

Back in January 2022, Jeremy announced that he had plans to expand the farm, including a 70-space car park and a 60-seat cafe. However, his request was rejected when the council received a total of 53 objections compared to only 12 letters of support.

The West Oxon District Council refused permission on the grounds that the cafe would be "out of keeping" with the local Cotswolds area as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

Joan Desmond, council planning officer, told the press: "By reason of its siting, design, scale and location, the proposed development would not be sustainable and would not be compatible or consistent in scale with the existing farming business or its open countryside location."

She added that the "proposed development would have a visually intrusive and harmful impact on the rural character, scenic beauty and tranquillity of the area."

Clarkson's Farm season one is available to watch now on Amazon's Prime Video.
